Automatic Shower Sump Pump

Use in draining shower pans installed below the water lines. Housed in a plastic sump, the Automatic Shower Sump Pump features the same Lovett quality as all our pumps. This pump has a large intake filter screen that is removable without tools for easy cleaning with a 3/4" diameter discharge connection.

Installation Data and Description

The Lovett pump is unique in its design. It uses only one gasket in its construction. There are no seals around moving parts to wear and leak. The principle of air compressed over water, in a chamber open at the bottom and closed at the top, effectively prevents bilge water from entering the motor and switch components, unless the pump is submerged to a depth of more than 28 feet or is upset while submerged, thereby losing the compressed air in the air lock, through which the electric cable and pump shaft enter the interior casing. FASTEN PUMP SECURELY TO HULL as near level as possible. Maximum installation angle for satisfactory results –10 degrees in any direction to permit normal operation when boat is heeling.

FASTEN PUMP DOWN SO THAT IT CANNOT UPSET

Installation

Run the 3/4" ID discharge hose from the pump as straight as possible to through-hull fitting, mounted at least 10 inches above the waterline. DO NOT use a check valve. DO NOT trap discharge line. DO NOT run two pumps into one discharge.

Connecting the pump to a smaller ID discharge hose will greatly reduce its capacity. Wire the pump in accordance with "Fire Protection Standards for Motor Craft" N.F.P.A. #302; USCG Sub Part I, 46CFR, Part 183, and all applicable ABYC standards.

Fuse and AWG wire size to 40 feet from pump to power supply
12 volts – 5 Amp Fuse - #14 Wire 24 and 32 Volt – 3 Amp Fuse - #14 Wire 6 Volt – 8 Amp Fuse - #10 Wire

Automatic switch will burn out immediately if the pump wires are not connected as they are marked. Double-check your boat wiring before making connections. Test with voltmeter or light, not the pump. Make all connections well above bilge water level, tape all connections, and secure wire to prevent chafing. DO NOT connect automatic to one battery and manual to another. Automatic requires 2 inches of water to turn on.
